Identity- America became an ally to many countries during the war. Also, the entire nation, including those at home were involved in the total war. The nation began to spread the idea of democracy to other nations due to the newly made alliances.
Work, Exchange, and Technology- New weapons such as U-boats, machine guns, and trench warfare were introduced at this time. Also, women began to take over factory jobs while men were away.
Peopling- Anti-German hysteria became a problem at this time due to the amount of German citizens taking refuge in the US. Also problems such as the Spanish Flu surfaced due to returning soldiers infected with the disease.
Ideas, Beliefs, and Culture- Public propaganda influenced many people at this time. Ideas such as prohibition was believed to solve problems like domestic violence, but the act created more problems than it solved and only lasted a few years.
America and the World- The Americans at this time helped other countries across the Atlantic ocean. We had never had a large power against other countries so, when we joined WWI there was a competition over world powers.
Environment and Geography- The world map was changed and the power over countries spread.
Politics and Power- The United States continued to gain power inside and outside of its borders. The two Espionage and Sedition acts were passed. A lot of propaganda was used to either encourage or criticize the war and the 19th amendment was officially created.
